Got fired for officially generic reasons and unofficially complete bullshit ones. Turns out doing your job isn’t enough to keep your job nowadays. Considering seeing if I can get on at another dealership as a photographer again. I hate the auto industry but I have a year of experience and a portfolio, and I don’t have the luxury of finding a new job on my own time.

If you didn’t get fired for cause, then you can apply for unemployment benefits. It’s not much, but it’s something to tide you over until you find another job, and you can receive them for 16 weeks. (You’re in Kansas, right?)

Here’s a link to some helpful info for your state: http://www.nolo.com/legal-encyclopedia/collecting-unemployment-benefits-kansas.html

That sucks. Good luck finding something better.

My Golf Mk2 does also that rear wheel lifting during very hard cornering.

My boss got into a huge fight with the owner, and he quit. The only reason I’m here is because of my boss. I have zero protection now from being let go.

I told someone I’m counting the days to my dismissal, he said, You should be counting the minutes.

Years ago I worked at a talent agency in Beverly Hills. I was attending a party hosted by a co-worker and was introduced to someone he had once worked with at that firm. She asked how long I’d been there, and when I told her it had been nine months she replied “oh, a long-termer, eh?”. I was laid off the next week...

I had an employer that automatically denied every request for unemployment benefits regardless of the reason for dismissal, usually out of nastiness and spite; the GM was eventually terminated for a whole range of workplace violations, but not before wrecking a lot of people’s lives. I had to fight for four months and attend a hearing in order to get those benefits, a hearing where they didn’t even show up. The only way to survive was to liquidate my 401k, something that should not have been necessary. I won, but it took a toll on me. People can be such assholes sometimes...

I’m in the same boat right now. I didn’t get fired but laid off due to corporate downsizing. All this while Alberta is in its worst economic slump of the last 30 years. Right now NO one is hiring. Good thing I was there for 5 years. As a dismisal package I got almost $10k and I’m also eligible for employment insurance until Dec 2017. The way things are going now I might need it until then.
